Here are the five Secrets You Need to know before installing a solar energy system for your Home.

  1. 80% of all home solar panels are pointed the wrong way. Most solar panels are pointed towards the Equator or South in the Northern Hemisphere and North in the Southern Hemisphere. Recent tests have shown that there is at least a 2% increase in generated power when the solar panels are pointed towards the setting sun or to the West.
  1. Most people believe that Solar panels need to have direct sunlight to produce Electricity. This is not true, as long as there is daylight, the panels will produce electricity. But the stronger the sun is, the more electricity the panels will produce.
  1. It is believed that you need to be a Certified Electrician to install a Solar Energy system for your home. There is no requirement for Electrician certification to install a solar energy system. The only time you need a Certified Electrician is when you connect the system to your electrical panel.
  1. There is an optimum angle to mount your solar panels. For the best performance at the equator your solar panels will be laying almost flat or horizontal. In the Arctic or the South pole regions, for best performance, your solar panels will be mounted almost at a vertical angle.
  1. You don’t have to build a big solar energy system all at once. You can build your solar energy system in stages. Start with the controller, then the inverter and then start adding solar panels and batteries one at a time. While you are building your system, the power company will provide the power to run your home.
